Police Chief Simulator System Requirements

Police Chief Simulator runs on Windows via Steam. Perfect Circle Team S.A. has not posted a console SKU. This page copies the minimum block from the full-game store page, adds what the Prologue taught about busy interiors, and flags Steam Deck. The full campaign is still scheduled for 17 September 2026; specs can move after launch, so re-read the store if a patch bumps the installer.

Official minimum (Steam)

As printed on the full-game page:

• OS: Windows 10, 64-bit
• CPU: Intel Core i5-3550 (or equivalent class)
• GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 (or equivalent class)
• DirectX: 11
• Storage: 9 GB available
• Sound: DirectX-compatible

The short Steam module does not always print RAM. Treat 8 GB as a nervous minimum and 16 GB as comfort for a browser-plus-game desk. Third-party listings sometimes show 4 GB; that figure is easy to confuse with other police titles. If you only have 8 GB, close Chrome before you furnish the lobby.

Recommended lines on aggregator sites bump the GPU toward a GTX 1660-class card. Steam’s own recommended block has been thin; when in doubt, prefer a 1060 or better and a SSD. Unreal interiors with many NPCs punish slow disks more than the empty tutorial rooms suggest.

Prologue versus full installer size

Some regional write-ups mentioned ~15 GB for the free intro. The full-game page currently says 9 GB. Trust the Steam download estimate on the app you are installing (4224800 Prologue, 4532800 Demo, 2938460 full). Leave headroom for shaders and Steam Cloud.

Steam Deck and controllers

Valve’s Prologue Deck report called the game Unsupported: graphics settings could not be tuned to run well, and some functions needed a touchscreen or virtual keyboard. SteamOS compatibility was separately noted as able to run with caveats. Mouse-and-keyboard is the intended scheme — see controls. Do not buy a Deck dock expecting a polished stamp UI on day one.

Performance in a living station

The opening ruin is a poor benchmark. After you renovate and hire, the registration room has civilians, props, and looping audio. Prologue launch-week notes mentioned frame drops in that state and a follow-up patch. Practical mitigations:

• Cap FPS if the GPU is loud but the CPU is old.
• Lower shadows and view distance before you touch resolution.
• Do not leave a delivery truck, a queue, and a detective scan running while you also stream.
• Rename a known-good save with R before you stress-test settings.

If hitching remains after a hotfix, it is a spec or driver problem, not a missing green stamp. The first-day checklist will not fix a 2012 laptop.

Languages and audio

Eighteen interface languages ship on Steam. English has full audio; others are UI and subs. Playing in French, German, or Spanish is supported in-game even if you browse this wiki in another locale. Polish is in the client (the studio is a Polish S.A.) but is not a wiki language here.

Family Sharing, Cloud, offline

Steam lists single-player, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing. A second player cannot join. An always-on internet connection is not advertised as a single-player requirement; still be online for the first install and for news. Cloud saves are a reason to keep one tidy slot, not a reason to skip local backups.

Pre-launch sanity test

1. Install the Demo or Prologue on the same PC you will use on 17 September.
2. Finish the broom section and open the lobby.
3. Watch the frame time when three civilians plus a delivery overlap.
4. If that already crawls, upgrade or lower settings before you wishlist as if the full county will be lighter. It will not.
